Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash is a soothing aloe and hemp based, sanitising foam, perfect for tattoo enthusiasts to use as part of their tattoo aftercare regime and also for tattoo artists to use in studio to sanitise and soothe the tattooed area.

The Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash is perfect to be used in the first few days of having a tender, fresh tattoo to gently clean it (instead of using harsh commercial body washes which can draw out the ink).

It can also be used to sanitise your hands before touching your new tattoo.

It’s 50ml size is also an excellent travel companion if you are looking to get tattooed whilst on holiday and want to ensure your tattoo does not get infected.

Absolutely, it was developed with tattoo artists to provide them with a product that they can use during the tattoo process to sanitise, keep swelling down and to clean the skin and stencil.

Packed full of enzymes, nutrients, vitamins and minerals, hemp oil, aloe and raw coconut oil – this tattoo wash creates a gentle, but potent, antibacterial agent designed specifically for the tattoo community.

The inclusion of hemp oil and aloe vera in Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash means that in addition to its sanitising qualities, it is incredibly hydrating for your skin.

Use Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash to sanitise your hands before touching your tattoo.

After being tattooed, the artist will usually wipe down your tattoo with either Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash or other sanitising product, then wrap your tattoo in a cling film or tattoo film.

After coming home (or within 2-4 hours) with a fresh tattoo, gently wash your tattoo with cold water using Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash to gently remove all traces of blood, excess ink and fluid. Do not use a cloth or aggressively rub the tattoo, only use water and your hands. If you are using Tattoo Film, do this step when it is time to remove the film.

Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel or disposable paper towel and leave for the tattoo to air until the skin is dry and feels slightly tight, this will be between 10 minutes until an hour.

It is important to give your tattoo time to breathe after it gets wet before it gets to the peeling stage. Most tattoos should get washed 2 to 3 times daily, pending on the activities undertaken during the day.

If you do not have access to a water source, Dr Pickles Deluxe Tattoo Foam Wash can also be left to soak into the tattoo. Use in conjunction with Dr Pickles Original Tattoo Balm for best results.

This product is not designed to treat infection, but rather should be used as a preventative for infection.

Tattoo Balm FAQs

Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm is the tube that started it all!

After over 11 years in the industry, we still stand by the principles that got us started in the first place: a passion to create an all-natural, Australian made and owned tattoo aftercare product that has absolutely NO FILLER products in it (that means NO petroleum jelly!!).

Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm is a specially formulated tattoo balm that combines:

· moisture rich D-Panthenol to hydrate and seal irritated skin; with

· papaya, included for its natural antiseptic qualities

to form a unique tattoo aftercare balm that helps protect the tattoo site and promote healthy cell reproduction of tattooed skin.

This revolutionary tattoo aftercare product combines the above-mentioned ingredients together with some other skin friendly nutrients, to produce the perfect all-natural tattoo after care.

It is 100% Australian owned and made.

The ingredient combination has proven successful in reducing scab formation and skin dehydration, whilst soothing tender freshly tattooed skin.

Our non-greasy formula will allow your skin to breathe whilst promoting fast and scab free skin repair during the tattoo healing process.

Most tattoo artists and collectors recommend and follow the Dr Pickles Tattoo Aftercare Method for fresh tattoos:

1. After the tattoo is completed, most tattoo artists will wrap over the fresh tattoo with cling film (plastic wrap). This can be removed after 2-4 hours.

2. Before touching your fresh tattoo, sanitise your hands with Dr Pickles Original Formula Deluxe Foaming Tattoo Wash

3. When removing the film, wash your fresh tattoo with cold water and Dr Pickles Original Formula Deluxe Foaming Tattoo Wash. Gently remove all fluids and blood with your clean hands (do not press down hard) under the running water.

4. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel or paper towel and let it air until the skin is starting to feel tight and dry. It is important to let the tattoo breathe like this any time it gets wet before it goes into the peeling stage. Most tattoos should be washed 2-3 times daily.

5. Apply a thin layer of Dr Pickles Original Formula Tattoo Balm to your dry tattoo until it is completely healed (this is usually around 14 days). The layer should be just enough to make the tattoo shine.

6. Continue applying Dr Pickles Original Formula Tattoo Balm as directed until the tattoo heals.

Whilst it is dependent on your tattoo size, location and style, we always recommend applying a small amount, just enough to make the tattoo shine.

You can always re-apply if the tattoo site is feeling dry.

Another factor to consider is your skin composition and how you absorb product, i.e. a tattoo on dry skin may need more regular tattoo balm application than oily skin.

We have also found that tattoos done in cooler, dryer, climates may need balm applied more regularly.

You can also use the balm after you have finished healing to moisturise and rejuvenate your tattoo collection.

As usual, always listen to your artist's instructions, they will know how to look after their work, but a small amount, applied often, is our rule of thumb.

Yes, Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm can also be used to rejuvenate older and healed tattoos.

The ingredient combination will make your tattoo collection brighter and it is designed to be used long after the healing process is completed.

After your tattoo is healed, you can apply a thin layer of Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm to your tattoo collection as a moisturiser to keep your tattoos looking shiny and bright.

Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm contains a small amount of beeswax. This is the only product of ours that is not vegan and we are looking to move to an entirely vegan range shortly.

We do also have a Vegan Tattoo Balm, which contains the same formula, but swaps the beeswax for a tree wax.

Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm contains sweet almond oil and is not suitable for people who are sensitive to nuts.

We are in the process of bringing out a nut-free variety which will be available in 2023.

Although Dr Pickles is a vegan friendly company, we have carefully chosen to include a small amount beeswax in this product. This is because beeswax’s ability to heal skin as a premium natural antibacterial agent. It helps create a protective layer over the tattoo, which ensures no infection can enter the recovering tattoo.

We infused coconut oil with sweet almond oil to combine the moisture rich fatty acids found in coconut oil with antioxidant rich vitamins contained in sweet almond oil to create optimal skin hydration and soothing during the entire healing process.

Moreover, coconut oil is also another incredible natural disinfectant, being high in vitamin E, it protects your skin from both free radicals as well as your fresh tattoo from infection.

Needless to say, Dr Pickles Original Formula Tattoo Balm contains real Australian papaya - no fillers, no petroleum jelly

Tattoo Film FAQs

We recommend using Dr Pickles Tattoo Film for only the first few days of healing your fresh tattoo. It is designed to be used in conjunction with Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash and Tattoo Balm.

Directions of Use:

1. After the tattoo is completed, most tattoo artists will wrap over the fresh tattoo with cling film or a Tattoo Film. Depending on your artist’s instructions, we recommend removing the Tattoo Film when you get home after your session with warm (not hot) water then wash away the blood and excess ink with Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash.

2. Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel or paper towel and let it air until the skin is starting to feel tight and dry. It is important to let the tattoo breathe like this any time it gets wet before it goes into the peeling stage.

3. If necessary, cut the Tattoo Film to suit the size of your tattoo, ensure the orange strip is in the middle of your cut portion. We suggest leaving a minimum of 1 cm gap between the edge of the tattoo and the Tattoo Film.

4. Before touching your fresh tattoo or handling the Tattoo Film sanitise your hands with Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash.

5. Apply the Tattoo Film to your tattoo leaving a minimum of a 1 cm gap between the edge of the tattoo and the Tattoo Film. This will help the tattoo adhere to your skin. 6. When removing the film, wash your fresh tattoo with warm water and Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash. Gently remove any excess ink, fluids and blood under the running water.

7. Pat dry and leave to air before applying Tattoo Balm, we only recommend using Tattoo Film for the first 48 hours of the healing process then moving onto the Wash and Heal tattoo care method.

8. Please note, as Dr Pickles Pickle Wrap is a very thin adhesive, we do not recommend the wrap to be left on a tattoo over two consecutive days.

9. If reapplying Dr Pickles Pickle Wrap, place a very small amount of balm on the tattoo, then reapply the Pickle Wrap with sanitised hands.

Dr Pickles Tattoo Film is a hypoallergenic transparent bandage, it is designed to cover and protect your tattoo for the first few days of the healing process whilst the tattoo is still leaking ink, plasma and blood.

It is great for protecting your bed, car seats, couch, etc from stains from leaking fluids.

If you have an occupation that involves lots of contact (i.e. a personal trainer in a gym), has lots of exposure to dusts and chemicals (i.e a nail technician) or is outside in the elements (i.e. a tradesperson on site),Dr Pickles Tattoo Film is perfect to wear to work to protect your tattoo until it reaches the peeling stage.

We made our 10m rolls especially for tattoo artists.

Tattoo Artists can also use Dr Pickles Tattoo Film to wrap their clients’ fresh tattoos before they leave the studio. If you are a tattoo artist looking to stock Dr Pickles Tattoo Film, please click here and we will be in contact with wholesale options.

Dr Pickles Tattoo Film comes in two sizes, we have our big 15cm x 10m rolls, designed for tattoo artists to use in studio and we also have our take home sachets which come with two 15cm x 15cm pieces of wrap.

We suggest leaving a minimum of 1 cm gap between the edge of the tattoo and the Tattoo Film.

Dr Pickles Tattoo Film is the thinnest on the market! It also has a matte finish which, coupled with its thinness makes it less prone to catching.

No more 48 hours. As Pickle Wrap is very thin, the adhesive is not made to be left on for the same duration as other products currently on the market.

The adhesive may be affected by how much ink, blood and plasma your body expels, the location of the tattoo and how oily your skin is.

Whilst our rule of thumb is the leave a 1cm between the edge of the tattoo and the Tattoo Film, if you know that your skin is affected by any of the above, leave an extra 0.5-1cm gap.

Also, Dr Pickles Tattoo Film may have trouble adhering to places where your skin moves more often (i.e. knees, elbows and fingers).

Be sure to only remove your Dr Pickles Tattoo Film under warm (not hot) running water and slowly peel it. This will help the adhesive dissolve and make it easier to remove.

Do not rip off your Tattoo Film dry, while we have taken every precaution to create a product that does not pull-out ink, forcefully ripping off the adhesive dry may pull out ink.

After removing, keep the water flowing over the tattoo and use Dr Pickles Tattoo Foam Wash to clean, sanitise and soothe the tattoo site
